Over 58 milllion tonnes of food waste are generated in the EU each year. If food waste were a EU Member State, it would be the fifth largest emitter of GHG emissions. Addressing this issue, Matsmart-Motatos has taken on the mission. The Swedish online supermarket sells food and consumer goods online, aiding major manufacturers like Knorr, Dr. Oetker, Maggie & Co. in clearing their excess stock and reducing waste in the value chain. Founded in Sweden in 2014, the company currently operates in five markets: Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, and Austria.
